How long does shipping take for hand-forged tools?
Orders for in-stock items typically ship within 1-3 business days. For custom or hand-forged tools, please allow up to 2 weeks for artisan preparation before dispatch.
Do you ship your woodworking tools internationally?
Yes, we ship our tools globally. Shipping rates and delivery times vary by destination and are calculated at checkout based on the weight of your order.
What is your return policy for tools and equipment?
We offer a 30-day return policy for unused tools in their original packaging. Please note that custom-ordered items and used sharpening stones are not eligible for return.
How do I care for my high-carbon steel chisels and slicks?
To prevent rust, we recommend wiping your tools clean after each use and applying a light coat of camellia oil or tool wax. Store them in a dry environment away from moisture.
Are Shelter Institute tools covered by a warranty?
We stand behind the quality of our craftsmanship. All Shelter Tools are guaranteed against manufacturing defects. If a tool fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship, we will repair or replace it.
Can I pick up my order in person at the Woolwich, Maine location?
Absolutely. Select 'Local Pickup' at checkout to collect your order from our campus store. You will receive an email notification as soon as your items are ready.
